History & milestones of bigBOX ALLGÄU


The bigBOX ALLGÄU was built by the Feneberg family company and is privately operated and financed. The company invested around 20 million Euro in the construction of the ultra-modern, multifunctional 4,500 square metre event centre. For Kempten, the long-cherished wish for a city hall came true with the opening in 2003.

2002
June

After 4 years of planning, the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction takes place.

2003
January

The website www.bigboxallgaeu.de goes online.
October
A 3-day premiere gala takes place at the opening from 10 to 12 October 2003. The bigBOX ALLGÄU starts with four employees.

2005
The operating company of bigBOX ALLGÄU, FH Promotions GmbH & Co. KG, is appearing for the first time as an independent organiser.
June / December
With "Boxen im Ersten" and "Carmen Nebel im ZDF" the bigBOX ALLGÄU hosts the first events to be broadcast live on TV.
October
The revised version of the website goes online.

2006
June/July

The WMBOX is the first public screening event using a 144 square metre screen in the bigBOX ALLGÄU.
July
Ticket sale, advance booking office of bigBOX ALLGÄU, is opened.
November
In the skyBOX - a room for up to 120 people with a glazed front as well as a spacious balcony that provides the perfect setting for weddings, birthdays, christenings, seminars, anniversary celebrations and conferences - a new bar is set up to add to the wide range of catering facilities.
December
The operating company FH Promotions GmbH & Co. KG expands its services to become an event organizer, staging 20 events of its own.

2007
February

The 500,000th visitor is celebrated.
April
A new grandstand enhances the kultBOX - a club-like space of 456 square meters that offers a suitable ambience for smaller events and concerts.
July
The bigBOX ALLGÄU (including the catering department) now has twelve full-time permanent staff plus two part-time staff. In addition, a pool of 130 casual workers are available as personnel requirements strongly vary at events.
October
Kick-off for the klassikBOX: The high-quality type of room offers excellent acoustic conditions for classical concerts and operas. The bigBOX ALLGÄU was also optically enhanced by chandeliers and suspensions, making it the first classical concert hall in the Allgäu with a visitor capacity of 1,500 guests.

2008
September

The first CRM system is put into operation.
November
The 750,000th visitor is welcomed in the bigBOX ALLGÄU.

2009
April

A ticket web shop is established on the bigBOX ALLGÄU website - tickets can now also be purchased online.
August
The bigTOUR - a guided tour through the bigBOX ALLGÄU - is launched and now takes place regularly.
September
André Rieu will receive the first Sold Out Award of the bigBOX ALLGÄU - a local cow bell - for his sold-out concert on 13.09.09.
November
The bigBOX ALLGÄU starts with its own Facebook page.
December
The revamped bigBOX ALLGÄU website goes online in a new design.

2010
January

On 16.01.10 the 1.000th event takes place in the bigBOX ALLGÄU!
April
By then, the bigBOX ALLGÄU has 14 permanent employees and 4 to 5 trainees.
The bigBOX ALLGÄU team has welcomed over 1 million visitors since its opening in 2003.

2011
January

The event hall - is operated 100 % with CO2-free hydropower energy - at that time the first and only hall in Germany.
August
The new version of the bigBOX ALLGÄU website is now online.
November
With a new light and sound system, specially designed for the performances of smaller bands, the extended usage concept for the kultBOX is launched. In addition to the previous use for comedy and smaller acts, club and underground concerts as well as aftershow parties can now also take place here.

2012
October

The Facebook page for the bigBOX ALLGÄU Hotel goes online.

2013
January

At the concert of the rapper "Cro" on 26.01.13 with 8.519 visitors, the all-time visitor record for the bigBOX ALLGÄU is set!
Shortly before on 18.01.2013, the 1.5 millionth guest was welcomed to the bigBOX ALLGÄU.
April
The bigBOX ALLGÄU is awarded the German Live Entertainment Award PRG LEA as "Hall/Arena of the Year 2012". Since 2006, the "LEA" has been awarded to outstanding managers, organisers and venue operators in German-speaking countries and is considered one of the most important awards in the music, culture and entertainment industries.
June
The bigBOX ALLGÄU launches its mobile website. Smartphone users can now quickly and conveniently inform themselves about upcoming events and buy concert tickets using their mobile phone.
August
The bigBOX ALLGÄU Hotel website goes online.
October
Anniversary: Ten years bigBOX ALLGÄU
The operating company FH Promotions GmbH & Co. KG now has approx. 320 employees.  Since its opening, around 1.6 million guests have visited over 1,700 concerts, shows and seminars in the event hall. Stars such as Die Toten Hosen, Sportfreunde Stiller and Bryan Adams performed in Kempten.  For the anniversary, bigBOX ALLGÄU organized a big Internet competition for its fans; the main prize was an annual ticket for the events staged in the bigBOX ALLGÄU.
On the anniversary day of the hall, a new part of the company was ceremoniously opened: The bigBOX ALLGÄU Hotel! It offers its guests 124 rooms on seven floors, a large conference area and the public Restaurant musics, as well as the roof terrace bar topSEVEN. The event complex now comprises over 15 conference rooms with areas from 41 to 2,700 m².

November
One month after its opening, the bigBOX ALLGÄU Hotel was awarded four hotel stars by the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA). 270 criteria in six categories were tested for the DEHOGA classification.

2014
June

A 978 m² photovoltaic system installed on the roof of bigBOX ALLGÄU has been supplying green electricity to the bigBOX ALLGÄU ever since.
July
The bigBOX ALLGÄU Hotel is awarded a certificate of the hotel classification system "Trust you": With a "TrustScore" of 88, the hotel is now in the "Excellent" category. The TrustScore is the first independent, consumer-oriented value monitoring that reflects all customer opinions worldwide.

2015
August

The 2 millionth visitor comes to the bigBOX ALLGÄU.
November
bigBOX ALLGÄU mobile - expansion of mobile services for ticket buyers. The customers of bigBOX ALLGÄU benefit from a number of innovations when ordering tickets on the move: In addition to the option of booking seating plans on mobile devices, PayPal offers an additional online payment option, and ticketDIRECT can also be used directly from a smartphone.
Dezember
Disused big banners of the bigBOX ALLGÄU are transformed into practical shoulder bags by the sewing department of the Allgäuer Werkstätten. The sustainable "upcycling" bags can be purchased at the bigBOX ALLGÄU ticket office.

2016
February

The new bigBOX ALLGÄU website goes online.
May
The bigBOX ALLGÄU now has an Instagram account, under #bigboxallgaeu fans can share their pictures.
September
The 3000th event takes place in the bigBOX ALLGÄU.
November
The bigBOX ALLGÄU article shop is activated; fan articles and additional products can now also be ordered online.

2017
May

The bigBOX ALLGÄU offers a virtual tour (vis.TOUR) through its premises. A large part of the entire building complex, including the public areas, the boxes, the backstage area and the conference rooms can be viewed in the 360° guided tour of the building, which can be called up online.  
October
The bigBOX ALLGÄU Hotel celebrates its 4th anniversary and the klassikBOX celebrates its 10th anniversary.

2018
February

The bigBOX ALLGÄU gets a new corporate design, from a logo to a new font. In addition, a completely new website for bigBOX ALLGÄU went online.
December
A new and larger ticket office on the forecourt of bigBOX ALLGÄU is opened.

2022
February
bigBOX ALLGÄU joins the career network LinkedIn.
